Our hosting reviews are editorial evaluations based on each provider's published plans, pricing, documentation, and policies, plus attributed third-party benchmarks where we cite them. We do not publish our own speed or uptime test results. Ratings are editorial opinions, not customer or lab scores. Some links are affiliate links; see our disclosure.
Hosting quality and pricing change over time, so any rating needs a date and a source. Editorial note: HostPro Reviews has not run its own lab tests for this guide. Figures below are arithmetic, vendor-stated, or attributed to a named source.
What changes year to year
- Pricing and renewal terms: hosts revise plans and intro offers frequently.
- Infrastructure: hosts migrate data centres, change storage and server software, or move to new platforms.
- Ownership: acquisitions can change support and policies.
- Features: staging, backups, CDN and security features are added or removed.
How to judge whether a host has improved or declined
- Check recent customer reviews on several platforms and look for recurring themes.
- Read the host's changelog or announcements and status page history.
- Compare plan limits and renewal prices against last year's.
- Re-check independent benchmarks such as Review Signal for the years a host participated.
- Test the host yourself during the money-back window.
What separates well-regarded hosts from average ones
Features that reduce risk and effort tend to matter: reliable backups, a staging environment, clear pricing, responsive support and sensible resource limits. None of these show up in a single score, so compare the specifics that matter to your site.
