How We Test Web Hosting
Every host we review is tested with real live websites — not synthetic benchmarks. We pay for our own hosting accounts, never accept sponsored placements, and run each test for a minimum of 90 days before publishing.
A scorecard approach cuts through marketing copy and gives you an at-a-glance comparison of every major hosting provider. We grade 10 specific criteria, each based on measurable test data, to identify where hosts excel and where they fall short. Why does Kinsta earn A+ in speed but A in value? Kinsta's raw speed is exceptional (A+) but their pricing is premium — at $35/month entry, they're not the best value for low-traffic sites. For high-traffic performance-critical WordPress sites, the value improves as the speed advantage translates to revenue.
Is Hostinger's B+ in backups a problem? Hostinger's base plans include weekly backups — adequate for personal sites, not ideal for business sites. The Business plan upgrades to daily backups. If daily backups are important (they should be for business sites), either upgrade to Hostinger Business or choose SiteGround which includes daily backups on all plans.
What does a C+ in pricing transparency mean for Bluehost?
